In a shocking case emerging from the Extremadura region of Spain, a psychologist and his wife have been arrested for allegedly operating a cult that claimed to “cure” homosexuality through forced sexual acts. The couple, who led the group for over two decades, was apprehended by the National Police on December 16 in a small town within Cáceres province.

The arrested individuals are accused of conducting “heterosexualizing therapies,” which disturbingly involved “healing sexual relations” with the cult’s leader. These so-called therapies were part of a broader scheme where the couple reportedly ran a company promoting various psychological treatments. They are suspected of coercing and manipulating victims into joining their cult, utilizing their residence on a large estate in Cáceres and a facility in Madrid to carry out their activities. The Madrid location was specifically used for administering what they claimed were healing therapies once a week.

During the police operation, both properties were raided, leading to the discovery and seizure of over 100,000 euros in cash, assorted narcotics, computer equipment, and documents linked to the cult’s operations. According to the investigation, the couple employed various drugs, including marijuana and MDMA, to induce altered states of consciousness in their victims, potentially to make them more susceptible to manipulation and control.

The National Police highlighted the couple’s propagation of hate speech, noting their assertions that homosexuality is a disease that can be cured. This dangerous and unfounded claim underscores the cult’s predatory and discriminatory nature. Over their two decades of operation, they managed to attract around 50 followers, who were subjected to their deceptive and harmful practices.

The General Commissariat of Information (CGI), a specialized unit of the National Police dedicated to dismantling illegal cults, led the investigation. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect individuals from such exploitative groups and to uphold the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of their sexual orientation.
